Independance Day Decor!

"THE SHELF"
SIMPLE, but CUTE DISPLAY!

Here's "THE SHELF" this is my shelf in my front room/main living space that I decorate for each Holiday and season. We live in a small house with not much wall space, so I designated this to be the area that gets the most decorating attention. Here's what it looks like for the 4th of July!

I LOVE this HOLIDAY and each year I have grown to love it more! I love the red , white and blue colors and to think that we live in a Free country!

I just wanted to show that you can decorate with simple things for Holidays. I love to decorate for the Holidays, but I dont like to spend much $ to do it! Everything Hanging on the shelf hooks i have picked up at the Dollar store last year and this year except for the Lantern. The big flag tray was in my Cupboard, just a plastic tray to use for food. The frame with the Picture was a Fathers Day gift for my Hubby and it went perfect with all the colors. the can with the flags that I will tell you about below and then the letter "R"( for our last name) that I  modge podged a while back!

Patriotic Can
I simply just used Modge Podge and decorated this can with scrapbooking paper. I used the tearing method on the star paper and then added some ribbon. Stuck some flags in some floral foam inside with some rocks on top and it was complete.I may have to use this for a table centerpeice this weekend for a BBQ

Liberty Garland!
I made this Liberty garland with scrapbooking paper, a container lid to trace a circle, modge podge the two peices of paper together, punched holes to tie cute ribbon knots and used chipboard for the letters. I used clothes pins to attatch them to jute string!

Here's what the letters looked like up close.

I just came across this 4th of july activity we did last year for family night. Mom and Dad finished making their flags, but Doodle got real bored real fast and didnt want to finish, but she was off to a good start!

I hope EVERYONE has a WONDERFUL 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!

  2. I just love the shelf idea to decorate for the seasons and holidays! I may have to find myself a shelf. :) Love the cuuute decor too, especially that it didn't cost much at all to do! I made "fireworks" out of toilet paper rolls (check em out if you can: http://christinascreativeside.blogspot.com/2010/06/fourth-of-july-table.html).
